We’re delighted to have been awarded Medium Employer of the Year at the Midlands Regional Apprenticeship Awards 2017. As a company, TDS, has always sought to be at the forefront of promoting and encouraging apprentice schemes, not least because an incredible 50% of our workforce joined the company as apprentices, and we’ll be welcoming four new apprentices to the team later this month.
The awards are in their 14th year and are run by the National Apprenticeship Service, which supports the delivery of apprenticeships and gives free, impartial advice and support to employers keen to benefit from an apprentice workforce.
Historically, it had been difficult for TDS to recruit the right staff with the right skills, so training apprentices in their role has played a major part in our company’s sustainability and continued success. In fact, our commitment to providing relevant training for the engineering construction industry went one step further, in 2012, when we set up the Construction and Design Centre of Excellence (Cadcoe) to provide specialist training in 2D and 3D CAD.
TDS Director, and Cadcoe founder, Daniel Leech, says ‘The apprenticeship programme, is a great way to welcome candidates to the world of work, whilst passing on our knowledge and experiences – it is brilliant to play a part in developing the leaders of the future.’
One of our TDS apprentices, Shaun Middleton, was also introduced to the world of award ceremonies, surely not for the last time, when he attended the presentation with Technical Director James McNee. Tough job but somebody’s got to learn it.
