Lambeth’s historic Town Hall is a Grade II listed building at the heart of a busy community in Brixton, South East London. And TDS are pleased to be at the heart of delivering several key aspects of the ongoing project.
Not only does this commission represent a great opportunity for TDS as a company, it’s also a great achievement for the project’s young CAD Engineer, Tom Glover. As a Year 3 CADCOE apprentice Tom has been involved in many major TDS projects but Lambeth’s Your New Town Hall represents his most direct involvement so far.
Tom has been responsible for designing steelwork for the scenic lift structure in the courtyard and the Assembly Room entrance steelwork, all using Tekla BIM to provide sharable, data-rich 3D models for contractors and fabricators. It’s a role he feels he’s been preparing for since day one with TDS, as he observed and assisted senior staff developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage a project in its entirety.
Tom’s apprenticeship is through our award-wining Construction and Design Centre of Excellence, brainchild of our Managing Director Daniel Leech. Daniel formed CADCOE in 2012 after spotting the obvious benefits of training and investing in young people to create a sustainable workforce and business. It’s great for us, great for the future of the industry and great for the Lambeth Your New Town Hall project.
