TDS Midlands is pleased to announce that it has won the Sports and Recreation category at Trimble’s UK Tekla Awards 2017, after being recognised for its innovative use of Tekla Structures for the Battersea Arts Centre project.

The Tekla Awards focuses on projects of all shapes and sizes, which have used Trimble’s Tekla Structures as part of the process for designing and modelling projects.

The entries submitted into the Sports and Recreation category were judged on complexity, attention to detail, disciplines used, innovation, impressiveness of structure and the amount of Tekla software used.

Managing Director at Trimble Solutions (UK) Ltd, Richard Fletcher said: “Battersea Town Hall was opened in 1893 and was converted to an arts centre in 1974 and was given a Victorian Grade II* listed building status. Unfortunately a fire broke out in the building in 2015 and therefore TDS have been tasked to create a model for new roof trusses made out of steel to support the new roof and tower of The Grand Hall."

“Trusses are beautiful for their appearance, their engineering and their complexity which is why this model was our winner in this category.”

Tim Martin, Senior CAD Engineer, at TDS Midlands said: "All of us at TDS are thrilled to have been awarded Tekla Model of the Year once more, this time, for the Battersea Arts Centre Grand Hall rebuild. It's a testament not only to our team and their expertise, but of course also the faith they put in Trimble's technology to realise our projects. As far as we're concerned it's a great partnership and long may it continue.”
